As the president of the UAW Local 2300, which represents 1,300 workers in and around Ithaca, I enthusiastically endorse Svante Myrick for mayor.
Svante is a true progressive who understands the challenges working people are facing in our community. He knows we’re having a harder and harder time paying our bills. He knows we’re getting a smaller piece of the pie each year. And he knows the important role the labor movement will play in reversing this trend and defending the middle class.
We need a mayor who will work hard to make rents and property taxes more affordable. We need a mayor who will support alternative transportation and help everyone who wants to get around without a car. We need a mayor who will support our youth programs and ensure our kids have the skills they need to succeed. We need a mayor who will bring living-wage jobs to the city and prepare Ithaca for the 21st Century economy.
We need a mayor who will speak up for the working people of this city.
This is the mayor I believe Svante Myrick will be. I hope you join me in supporting him on November 8th.
